IceVault offers an unusually flexible approach to personal data management by letting users define their own database structures. With 48 field types, customizable attributes, dedicated folders, and layouts ranging from cards to spreadsheet grids, it can adapt to many organizational needs. Templates can also be edited after records are created, allowing the structure to evolve without rebuilding existing information from scratch across many different projects.
Security is another major strength, with per-field AES-GCM encryption, master-password protection, Face ID or Touch ID unlocking, and iOS Data Protection applied to databases. The app also works completely offline and makes no network connections, while full-text search, tags, filters, QR scanning, document capture, CSV import, and encrypted archive backups make stored information easier to manage and retrieve on supported devices without online accounts.
That said, the free version is limited to three folders, which could become restrictive for users building several separate databases for work, personal records, and specialized projects. Although IceVault Pro removes this limitation through a one-time purchase, users who prefer completely unrestricted free software may find the folder cap inconvenient. Careful planning can help, but larger collections will eventually require the paid unlock for larger personal collections.
